Expanding effective volunteerism

Volunteer Milwaukee provides services and consultation to Nonprofit Center member organizations and assists them in strengthening their capacity and impact by utilizing volunteers.

We promote volunteerism and help you recruit volunteers:
  • List your volunteer opportunities on VolunteerMilwaukee.org, where potential volunteers can easily find your opportunities and connect with you.
  • Your opportunities may also be listed in our At the Center newsletter, the weekly Helping Hands column in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and in other volunteer listings.
  • Recruit corporate volunteer teams and include your group volunteer opportunities in our corporate project listings.
  • Recruit seasonal volunteers through our Summer Youth and Holiday Volunteer newsletters, distributed throughout
    Milwaukee County.

Recruit board or committee members through the Community Board Connection program and on our website.

Stay up-to-date on services and volunteer engagement through Affiliations, a quarterly newsletter for members.
Get the tools to effectively engage volunteers by attending workshops at reduced fees and free members-only networking sessions. See the workshop calendar for current listings.

Participate in the Holiday Giving Tree, connecting you with donors who provide holiday gifts to your participants in need.
(Giving Tree participation requires being a current NPC member in good standing by July 31 each year and paying an additional fee.)

Receive resources to manage and mobilize volunteers:
  • No Nonsense Volunteer Management is a time-tested toolkit containing the essential information and forms to establish, enhance or sustain a successful volunteer program.
  • Youth Volunteer Action Guide will lead any group through a process to select a project, volunteer and then reflect on the service. The flexible format contains 76 pages with handouts and activities.

Receive answers to your volunteer management questions from our experienced staff.
