HOLIDAY GIVING TREE
We help businesses and organizations give over 13,000 gifts each year to those in need.
|
We believe that no one should feel forgotten during the holidays. For over 30 years, the Nonprofit Center’s Holiday Giving Tree has made it easier for the community to share with those less fortunate. Since 1990, Giving Tree has fulfilled gifts wishes for over 260,000 Milwaukee area children, families and seniors from low-income households. In 2016 alone, more than 13,000 holiday wishes were fulfilled, over half of those being children’s wishes. One gift may not seem like much, but for someone who won't otherwise receive one, it’s everything. That single, specially chosen gift lets them know that someone in the community cares about them.

How Does it Work?
1. Request tags.
IMPORTANT: Minimum 15 tags required to participate. Please try to be as accurate as possible because you'll be responsible for fulfilling the gift requests. If you're unable to fill the tags requested, it could mean that someone doesn't receive a holiday gift. But don't worry, a good internal promotion can help you reach your goal. You can always request more tags if you run out. There is no magic formula to determine how many tags you should request, but here are a few suggestions to help you estimate:
2. Get matched with a nonprofit.
You 'll be matched with a nonprofit agency whose clients are in need this holiday season. Gift recipients include seniors, people with disabilities, veterans, teens and children. Depending on how many tags your company requests, you may even be matched with more than one agency! You'll receive your tags as well as a spreadsheet containing all of the gift requests (to help you keep track) by early November. Please contact the nonprofit agency immediately upon receiving their information to arrange additional details such as:
3. Recruit the gift-givers.
Spread the word about Giving Tree throughout your company or group. Use your internal communications, signage provided to you by NPC, and announcements explaining the program and where gift tags can be picked up. Be sure to encourage individuals with children to get involved! The Giving Tree is an excellent opportunity to teach children the importance of giving back. Please keep your nonprofit agency and the Nonprofit Center informed of your progress.
4. New this year: share your story!
Be sure to share your Giving Tree photos and videos online to increase engagement and bring attention to your participation in this amazing event. Use hashtag#npcgivingtree.

- Consider surveying your staff or group to gauge their level of interest. Apply the percent of interest to the total number of employees to determine approximately how many tags you need.
- Send an email to employees and request that they reply if they want to participate.
- Gauge your employee’s involvement with past activities.
