Group Purchasing Overview

The Nonprofit Center has a partnership with Care Purchasing Services (CPS), a national buying alliance and procurement organization who negotiates contracts for goods and services for over 1,400 members. The CPS national buying volume allows them to negotiate aggressive rates, access additional resources and provide professional expertise. CPS has secured national pricing and service programs with over 250 vendor partners and is growing.

How does it work? NPC members can work with an experienced CPS consultant to help them find savings on things their organization buys everyday. Through coordinating with CPS vendor partners who offer great products, pricing and services, your consultant can lower overall costs to help you achieve mission goals.

CPS will conduct a cost savings analysis (CSA) to help you decide if the program is right for you. The analysis will include a direct comparison of products and services you already use, formulary programs for dietary and medical supplies as well as other business needs. All you need to complete the CSA is one/two months of invoices.

This partnership was forged in response to our members’ needs to keep costs low in the face of increasing financial challenges. We highly encourage members to do a cost savings analysis to see where they can be saving money.

Natalia Hernandez from CPS will take you through the process step by step. CPS will conduct a CSA with your invoices. Once completed, Natalia will give you the results and consult with you accordingly.  Contracts between CPS and their vendors are established on an annual basis, and the pricing is not negotiable during the contract period. As such, Natalia will advise you whether you should switch to the CPS contract or remain with your current vendor contract.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost of the program?
The GPO program is free to members. You may participate in our GPO program concurrently with other GPOs, please note that some individual vendors may restrict your ability to use their products and services within multiple programs. However, the more volume NPC members generate for CPS vendors, the lower our group pricing will be.
 
What is a cost savings analysis?
The CSA is an apples-to-apples comparison of the products and services you already use (where applicable). CPS will work with you individually to establish formulary programs for dietary and medical supplies, as well as other supplies. On an ongoing basis, CPS will audit vendor invoices and establish benchmarks for price control.
 
What kind of support services does CPS offer?
CPS’s goal is customer service. Natalia Hernandez, Client Account Manager, is our CPS liaison. Natalia is available to assist you with any aspect of the GPO program. Each vendor is assigned to a CPS staff associate to provide you with efficient price quotes, ordering options, contract negotiations and problem resolution. Additionally, CPS will manage your manufacturer rebates for you as part of the program. They will file for and collect all qualifying rebate allowance dollars for your organization.
