Over the past few years, the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee has recognized and celebrated excellence in the nonprofit sector with an awards ceremony every fall. It has been a special opportunity to showcase organizations that are doing good work in governance, financial management, collaboration, etc.
For 2016, we are going to shake things up a bit. Changes are coming in the sector as the baby boomers begin to retire and hand the leadership roles over to a new generation. The questions is, what will that mean? How will leadership work? This year, we seek to bring focus and attention to issues of leadership in our community. We seek to celebrate new ideas that are already in place and are changing our landscape, and we will be seeking new ideas that will have an impact in the future. We are working in partnership with the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network, UW-Parkside, IFF, and UW-Milwaukee Continuing Education on this initiative. We will recognize leaders in four different categories to kick off a leadership summit on October 13, 2016. The title of the summit is: Breaking Molds and Cracking Ceilings: Understanding and Disrupting Leadership for a Strong Nonprofit Sector. The goal of the summit is to identify new and groundbreaking ideas about leadership in the nonprofit sector, but to set the tone we would like to celebrate what is already being done.
Please nominate excellent, innovative leaders from anywhere in southeastern Wisconsin in any or all of the following categories:
Organizational Leadership
Community Leadership
Philanthropic Leadership
Catalytic Leadership
Nomination application can be found here. The deadline is September 12, 2016. For more information regarding Excellence Awards and the nomination process, email Debbie Knepke, Corporate and Events Manager, or give her a call at 414-269-8576.
