The Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee (NPC) values the privacy of our members and all users of our services, including this website. NPC collects information to help us better serve you and the nonprofit sector. It is our policy to collect and store only personal information that is knowingly provided to us. We do not share personally identifiable information, except when persons consent to NPC sharing personally identifiable information for a specific purpose. NPC also collects organizational information for research and member services purposes, which in some cases outlined below may be shared with third parties.
Personal Information Collected
Through NPC's member and research database that can be accessed through this website by members and other customers with online accounts, and through the NPC e-newsletter sign-up form that can be accessed through this website, NPC collects and stores contact information from individuals as it is knowingly provided to us, including email addresses. We use this information to contact individuals via email and mail with additional resources that might be of interest, including upcoming events and trainings, new publications, or other resources. You may choose at any time not to provide personally identifiable information, although this may restrict our ability to provide requested services or information.
NPC may use or share your personal information where it is necessary to complete a transaction or to do something that you have explicitly asked us to do. NPC uses other third parties such as a credit card processing company to process fees, dues, and purchase payments for services and goods. These third parties are prohibited from using your personally identifiable information for promotional purposes.
The following are examples of personally identifiable information that you may volunteer to provide and examples of how we use such information.
Organizational Information Collected and Third Party Uses
NPC does not make organizational contact information or personal identifying information available on this website unless it is approved by an organization and/or individual for a specific purpose. Member organizations are listed by organization name on this website, with links to member organization websites as provided by the member organizations.
Information collected when the NPC online system is used to join NPC or renew membership is stored on servers that meet or exceed industry privacy standards and related information privacy laws of the United States and the State of Wisconsin.
NPC occasionally makes mailing lists of nonprofit organizations and selected email addresses available to third parties. For example, organizational contact information is shared with third-party research firms for express, limited use in conducting sector-wide surveys, such as the NPC biennial survey of nonprofit organization salary and benefits compensation. These lists are limited to organization names, a specific contact person name for the intended research project, and an email address to be used in the course of the research project or survey. Third parties using NPC lists for such research purposes agree not to share, sell, or use or distribute the lists for any other purpose.
Mailing lists of organizations in the NPC database are also made available to third parties upon request and payment to NPC. NPC mailing lists are only made available to other organizations for a single use. The use of an NPC mailing list by another organization is only allowed if NPC: 1) determines that the material to be mailed is in keeping with the Nonprofit Center’s mission of service to the nonprofit sector; and, 2) that the material will have a high likelihood for informational, educational and/or cost-saving benefit to the organizations that receive the mailing. Information on these lists includes only organization name, contact person name, street address, city, state and zip code.
Any organization may request their information be omitted from lists provided by NPC to third parties by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 414-344-3933 and expressing its preference not to have its information shared.
Financial Data Security
NPC does not disclose credit card account information provided by members and other users of our services. When members and other customers make an online payment to NPC by credit card, all of the information in the transaction is submitted directly to a secure credit card processor.
NPC takes photographs and videos during public events and solicits photographs and videos from our members that are representative of their work, and occasionally distributes these photos and videos for distribution via this website, social media, or other means. Photos and videos are taken by NPC, or by persons authorized by NPC to take photos and videos on NPC's behalf, in public settings during public events. We make every effort to obtain implied or specific consent from individuals for photos and videos taken at public events. NPC also takes photos and videos at non-public events and in these settings makes every effort to obtain appropriate distribution and usage permissions from those photographed or videotaped.
If you see that you are included in a photograph or video distributed by NPC and would prefer that it not be distributed, please contact NPC at email@example.com and let us know what photo or video you are referring to and where you saw it. We will remove it from circulation to the best of our ability.
Choice to Opt Out
NPC provides all individuals and customers the opportunity to opt out of having your personal information used for certain purposes. If you are a member of NPC, have registered for an event, or no longer wish to receive promotional communications, you may also opt out of receiving such communications by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
