This year's Global Youth Service Day is actually an entire weekend, April 15–17, 2016.
The Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee is our area’s lead agency for Global Youth Service Day, which is the world’s largest service event. We join with all of our community partners in inviting you to participate along with projects around the globe.
Global Youth Service Day recognizes the positive contributions young people make to their communities every day of the year. This year, Milwaukee's theme is Growing Healthy Communities. All projects that make a positive impact on our communities are welcome, from neighborhood cleanups to food drives to anything Milwaukee’s youth and youth-serving organizations can imagine.
All young people up to age 25—along with schools, youth-serving agencies, Community Learning Centers, businesses, and community and faith-based organizations—are invited to plan and carry out service projects any time during the month of April, especially on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of April 15-17.
All registered projects will be showcased locally and added to the global tally. Project participants will be invited to attend a celebration with other youth from around the city on April 16th—details to be announced.
Here's how you can get involved in Milwaukee's Global Youth Service Day 2016:
Plan, Join, or Register A Project
To plan your own project, visit GYSDmke.com for a toolkit with project ideas. If you’d rather join a project that’s already in the works at a local community organization, you’ll find a list of registered projects at GYSDmke.com. Plus, everyone is invited to join in the Milwaukee Signature Service Event on April 16th—visit the website to learn more. If you have an existing project planned for April, please register that project at GYSDmke.com to help showcase Milwaukee’s leadership in this global celebration of service.
MPS Schools and CLCs are encouraged to contact Sarah Kubetz, MPS Community Service/Service-Learning Mentor, for assistance.
Register Your Project Online
